You wouldn’t pack a winter coat for a day-trip to JB.

And yet, that’s exactly what a lot of people do with their money.

We save because we feel we should.

We spend because everyone else is.

Not because we’re careless, but because we never stopped to ask: where am I actually trying to get to?

That’s why goal-setting comes first – because it’ll make every other financial decision easier. When you know what you’re working towards, you stop guessing and start choosing.

Who are you packing for?

If you’re the dependable one, you’re probably imagining helping your parents when they need you; supporting your partner; being the person people can count on.

But you know what? Taking care of yourself isn’t separate from taking care of others. It’s where it begins.

Where your own finances are stable, you’re in a much stronger position to help the people you love – not just today, but years from now.

So as you think about your goals, make room for both – the people you love, and yourself.
